Why I Teach

August 14, 2016

I was recently asked by a colleague, what my goals for my classes are.  Not necessarily an unusual question, at least not for a teacher. I’m not sure why this time struck me as different, but the question really stayed with me. My answer could included grade distribution or test scores but that isn’t what teachers hear when asked these kinds of questions.  The question we really hear is, “Why do you teach?”

Saving does not come naturally to us all.....

April 8, 2016

Putting money aside for later use comes naturally to some…..for the rest of us out there we have to find ways to train ourselves to save. For me, keeping the money in my checking account is a sure way to fail. I have to move the money out into another account where I won’t be able to access it at the register without transferring it back. However when we sit down to do our budgets it is SO easy to talk ourselves out of making the transfer to savings.

The journey begins.....

March 31, 2016

I’m so excited to begin working with Envision Credit Union as the 2016 Envisioneer. I've been banking with Envision Credit Union since I was a child and my parents took me to open my first savings account. Imagine my delight when I discover that Leon High School, where I now teach, is also where Envision Credit Union got it’s start!
